Event Details

The DQI process helps facilitate the conversations you have every day about building design.  It streamlines discussions by providing a process for all stakeholders to have a voice in setting the goals and objectives for the project and by providing a benchmark for quality measurement.  The web-based tool makes the process easier, saves time and cost and provides a value-added resource for you and your clients.

The DQI also provides a competitive edge in the marketplace and a point of difference over other service providers.  It helps makes you a better problem solver for your clients, helps you complete programming in less time, and reduces project cost and change orders due to incomplete scope. It enables the delivery of high performance buildings and projects in less time and at lower cost.

What is DQI?
The DQI (Design Quality Indicator) is an online survey tool used to capture the voice of all project stakeholders, quantify design intangibles, and validate the design of a building or space from start to finish. For new buildings or renovations, it helps:

  1. Establish consensus on design priorities at the onset of the project – balancing the needs of all stakeholders involved to achieve success.
  2. Provide a framework and formal method to continually evaluate and monitor priorities throughout a project’s duration.
  3. Improve project scoping, scheduling, and management. The DQI makes the elements of good design visible through measurable and reportable statistics. This methodology emerged from the UK and has been used on over 1,000 projects worldwide.

Learning Objectives

Each attendee will learn how DQI metrics can be used to:

  • Improve programming with a process for setting goals and objectives based on all stakeholder input
  • Prioritize your client’s capital allocation and resource spending
  • Increase your firm’s revenue and profitability
  • Accelerate your client’s planning and approval processes
  • Build a database of project success factors including building quality, functionality and impact and their reasons
  • Prevent unnecessary change orders, project delays and design rework
  • Reduce administration time, paperwork and project hours
  • Document and improve client satisfaction
  • Attract new clients and offer value add consulting services
  • Apply for LEED credits

All Attendees Receive

  • Continental Breakfast

The company is focused on enabling widespread use of the construction industry’s first statistically validated design assessment tool, the DQI (Design Quality Indicator). The company was formed in 2006 to commercialize the DQI following its success in the UK, where it has already been applied to over 900 projects by more than 10,000 people.

No longer is coming in on budget and on time good enough. Now both the public and private sectors are being required to prove they are delivering buildings that are “high quality” as well. The DQI helps isolate and benchmark this elusive third pillar: design quality, enabling the delivery of high performance buildings that are innovative, fit-for purpose, foster productive work environments and are sustainable in the broadest sense.

DQI USA aims to create a nationwide network of DQI Facilitators in the US and establish the DQI as the industry standard for delivering high performing buildings. Available as a web-based tool, the DQI enables procurement teams to holistically define and evaluate design quality at all key stages in the development process. The quantification of “design intangibles” is a unique feature to the DQI enabling the delivery of fundamentally better and more sustainable buildings.

The company was founded with a vision that better designed buildings are fundamentally more valuable and a better use of resources. History shows that poor design results in high costs and low value for money. By capitalizing on the economic, social and environmental benefits of improved building design, the case can be made to unlock potential value, increase economic activity and enhance productivity. Evidence shows that patients recover faster in better designed hospitals, children score higher in quality designed schools, and well designed neighborhoods result in lower crime. In short, investing in high quality buildings can improve the welfare of business and society.
